Chairman's Message
THORNG Cheyvibol
Board Member
Chairman of the Steering Committee
As the Chairman of CAMDEF, I am deeply committed to our mission of fostering education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, entrepreneurship, and democracy not only in Cambodia but also beyond its border.
In the realm of education, we are dedicated to creating opportunities for learning and intellectual growth. We believe that education is the cornerstone of personal and societal development. Similarly, our focus on healthcare is driven by our commitment to ensuring that every individual has access to medical services and to promoting health awareness in rural areas.
“Together, we can build a brighter and more equitable future for all.”
Our efforts in agriculture and rural development aim to enhance the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities. In the sphere of entrepreneurship, we are fostering innovation and supporting local businesses to stimulate economic growth.
Project Proposals
Currently, CAMEF focuses on three key projects including clean and safe water supply, school material donation, and health check-up for rural peoples.
Clean water issues in Cambodia are a significant concern. Nearly 3.4 million people in Cambodia do not have basic access to safe drinking water, which is about 2 out of every 10 people. Furthermore, 6.5 million people lack basic access to sanitation facilities. This lack of sanitation often leads to contamination of surface water sources.
Many children in rural and underprivileged areas lack access to basic educational resources such as textbooks, notebooks, pens, and pencils. This scarcity hampers their learning process and overall academic progress. Donations of school materials can make a substantial difference in these children’s lives, providing them with the necessary tools to pursue their education and unlock their full potential.
Many rural areas in Cambodia lack access to quality healthcare services, making regular health checkups a necessity to prevent and treat diseases early. These checkups can help identify health issues before they become severe, thereby improving the overall health outcomes of the rural population. Furthermore, they can also play a crucial role in educating individuals about health and hygiene practices, leading to a healthier lifestyle.
